چکیده
Abstract In near-fault seismic zones, the vertical acceleration experienced during a strong event can be greater than horizontal acceleration. Methods to reduce are applied in various forms and common use. However, methods acceleration, practical protection systems for these applications, remain elusive. One strategy protect structures, which has been demonstrated effective situations where excitation is horizontal, isolate structure. For excitations, this difficult due need maintain sufficient stiffness strength direction of gravitational loads. The high gravity loading while allowing flexibility isolation earthquakes led research on use High-Static-Low-Dynamic Stiffness Systems (HSLDSS) particular Quasi-Zero (QZSS), have zero equivalent equilibrium position. Although effective, QZSS sensitive mistuning prone large deformations relatively small increments static load building applications. This paper presents results an analytical experimental study HSLDSS system carrying payload subject base using sinusoidal as well actual, scaled earthquake signals. Static tests also presented. consists rigid rotating arms, springs damper. By suitable selection parameters could serve QZSS. Results show that both significantly magnification force transmission retains at numerical model includes friction solved direct integration equation motion. Experimental from scale agree theoretical predictions.

Taber vibration isolator for vacuum and cryogenic applications
We present a procedure for the design and construction of a passive, multipole, mechanical high-stop vibration isolator. The isolator, consisting of a stack of metal disks connected by thin wires, attenuates frequencies in the kilohertz range, and is suited to both vacuum and cryogenic environments. We derive an approximate analytical model and compare its predictions for the frequencies of the...

Experimental and numerical investigation of an optimized airfoil for vertical axis wind turbines
The present study addresses the experimental and numerical verification of the performance of a new airfoil design for lift driven vertical-axis wind-turbines (VAWT). The airfoil is obtained by a genetic algorithm optimization of the objective function proposed by Simão Ferreira and Geurts [19], which optimizes the aerodynamic performance of airfoils having a relatively larger thickness, provid...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
A Complementary Numerical and Physical Investigation of Vortex-induced Vibration
Results are presented from low Reynolds number experimental investigations of vortex-induced vibration and comparison is made with results from corresponding twoand three-dimensional direct numerical simulations. It is shown that three-dimensional simulations are required to reproduce the response envelope observed experimentally. Phase-averaged contours of spanwise vorticity demonstrate the pr...
